LAYOUT OF WASHINGTON D.C. STREETS / A MASONIC CONSPIRACY
Could it be possible that the Masons are in league with the devil to take over the capitol of the United States. Some would have us believe that there is has been an ongoing conspiracy to advance the cause of Satanism or some form of pagan religion since the very inception of our nation.
Is U.S. Government is linked to Satanism? Has the street design in Washington D.C. has been laid out in such a manner that certain Luciferic symbols are depicted by the streets, cul-de-sacs, and rotaries. This design was created in 1791, a few years after Freemasonry assumed leadership of the New Order, in 1782.
In Europe, occult leaders were told by their Familiar Spirits as early as the 1740's that the new American Continent was to be established as the new "Atlantis," and its destiny was to assume the global leadership of the drive to the New World Order… The United States of America was chosen to lead the world into this kingdom of the Antichrist from the beginning. The capital is Washington D.C
. (Freemasonry Watch)These anti-Masons see within the layout of Washington D.C. a picture of a goat head, the spirit of Lucifer, and a pentagram. Even the number "666" is stamped in the upper portion of the pentagram. They claim that the architect of Washington D.C., who is supposed to be Pierre Charles L'Enfante (A mason from France), drew his pattern to show that Satan had planned the Governmental Center. The Southern tip of the goat head pentagram is supposed to right over the White House. This is explained by saying that it was planned by occultist (I guess he means Masons) for the White House to be controlled by Satan.
These conspiracy mongers have also claimed that the House of the Temple, which was erected as a memorial to the work of the Scottish Rite, is located statregically for the purpose of influencing the White House for the purpose of evil. It is located 13 blocks North of the White House. They claim that the number 13 is satanic. Somehow the House of the Temple some 13 blocks away is radiating magical power over the White House.
To carry the conspiracy just one step farther they make the accusation that Masons have controlled the Presidents of the United States. Ralph Epperson in his book "The New World Order" on page 171 tells of a meeting between General Granger, President Andrew Johnson (a Mason), and Albert Pike (author of Morals and Dogma), in which President Johnson declared that he was a subordinate to Albert Pike. We are led to believe that Pike had authority over the President of the United States because he was a higher ranking Mason. Of course, all of that is nonsense. The Master Mason (3rd Degree) is at the apex of Masonry. The "higher degrees" do not give a Mason more power over those in the lower degrees.
Some of the enemies of Freemasonry will go to great lengths to try to convince you that America is under attack by Satan and the Masons. They would have us believe that the Masons have set up the design of the nation's capital to promote occult worship and are somehow secretly conniving to take over the leadership of America and bring its citizens under the authority of the Masonic organization. Here is what the "Freemasonwatch" web site has said about such a threat:
Clearly, the power of leadership to drive this country toward the New World Order, leading the rest of the world, lies in Freemasonry, not in the White House or Congress. These symbols, built into the physical layout of government center in Washington D.C., represent the extent of that power…. The American flag is a symbol of the Brotherhood and the Brotherhood is linked to Satanism.
All of this is very interesting, but what is really going on? Is there a Masonic conspiracy to take over power? Well, let's look into the facts. Yes, you look at the intersections of Massachusetts Ave, Road Island Ave., Connecticut Ave., Vermont Ave. and K Street NW and they will form a star with five points. How many other cities could you take 5 significant locations and find a pentagram? Have there ever been Masons who took part in the architecture of Washington D.C.? Yes, there were. Does that prove that there was a conspiracy to set up an occultic kingdom?
If we are going to consider the possibility of a conspiracy then we must look at some other issues. If there is a pentagram diabolically situated in Washington does that prove evil intent? The pentagram has been a symbol of the occult, but that has not always been the case. Where is the proof that a present day conspiracy is taking place by the Masons to take over the White House. What would be their purpose? Would that be so that they could raise more money for the Children's Burn Hospitals?
None of these assumptions bear scrutiny. First, the pentagram is not an exclusively satanic symbol nor does it have any particular Masonic significance. Second, Freemasonry, promoting rationalism and freedom from superstition, places no power in symbols themselves. It is not a part of Freemasonry to view the drawing of symbols, no matter how large, as an act of consolidating or controlling power. Third, none of the men responsible for the street plan have been shown to have been Freemasons. Although Freemason George Washington commissioned Pierre Charles L'Enfant and approved the streetplan of Andrew Ellicott and Benjamin Bannecker, it was the work of non-masons. Is it true that Freemasonry is involved in the occult and the pentagram is one of our Masonic symbols? As I mentioned elsewhere in this book a symbol only has meaning to those who embrasse it as having a peculiar meaning. To my knowledge, the pentagram is not found in any of the regular Masonic organizations. It is, however, found in the Eastern Star organization, which is a ladies organization. The women who belong to the Eastern Star are not Masons, but it is required that at least one Mason be present during the meetings. Not being a member of the Eastern Star I cannot explain the details of their symbolisms. As I recall, it seems that the five points of the pentagram have something to do with five very important women in the Bible after whom they strive to emulate. It also has some connection with the Christmas Star that the wise men saw in the East.
Early Christians often connected the pentagram with the Five Stigmata of Christ. Up until mediaeval times it was regarded as a symbol of religious mysticism, truth, and the work of the Creator. The Roman Emperor Constantine believed that his new found faith in Christianity gave him victory over his enemies and began to use the pentagram as part of his seal and amulet. Greek Christians sometimes used the pentagram in place of the cross prior to writing inscriptions. The inverted five point star has also represented the descent of Christ.
It is ludicrous to insinuate that Masonry uses the pentagram in any type of occultic worship. There is no proof that such a thing has ever occurred. It has a totally different meaning to the Eastern Star and to Masonry in general. If the pentagram is always used in an occultic manner, then can you explain why it is the very symbol that comprises the Medal of Honor?
What about the charge that L'enfant was part of this great plot to corrupt Washington D.C.? Without a doubt L'Enfant had a part to play in the design of Washington D.C., but his part was limited. He developed his incomplete plan in 1791. It was Thomas Jefferson who spearheaded that plan and actually made it work.
President Washington commissioned Pierre L'Enfant, a French architect, to design the new city. L'Enfant's original name, Washingtonople, didn't last; however, parts of his dream for the layout still exist today, including the Washington Monument.
L'Enfant was fired partially into the construction of Washington, D.C., and was replaced by city survey or Andrew Ellicott (whose father founded Ellicott City, Maryland). Ellicott replaced L'Enfant's name on the design map with his own, and construction work resumed. (From DC City Pages: The City of Washington, D.C.)
L'Enfant may have been a friend of George Washington, and he may have even been a Freemason, but both of those assets (if they are true) did not give him a blank check to turn Washington into a Masonic headquarters for the occult. If you need some non-Masonic resources for my statement let me refer you to an encyclopedia's description of L'Enfant:
L'Enfant had remodeled the New York City city hall to serve as a temporary seat of federal government when he was asked (1789) by Washington to submit plans for the capital city at Washington. His plans were presented in 1791, but he antagonized Congress and was opposed by Thomas Jefferson. In 1792 he was dismissed. He was offered in payment of his services 500 guineas and a lot in Washington, which he refused. In 1889, L'Enfant's plans were exhumed from the archives, and in 1901 the design of the capital was developed along the lines that he had laid down.
(from Encylopedia.Com)We will not argue that the design of Washington D.C. is without its Masonic influence. As a matter of fact, there is a lot of Masonic influence. There is no evidence, however, that there was a conspiracy by design. It is nothing more than a fable.
